Materials: EN1 - EN2

  • EN1 Materials used by weight or volume.

Materials are sourced from Original Equipment Manufacturers (OEMs) and other suppliers and used to support the retail and service nature of the group's operations. Materials that have a high impact on the environment are monitored. Steps have been taken to consider more environmentally friendly products and materials where available.

While we report overall consumption in the table above, internal measures distinguish between direct (own) and indirect (customer) consumption. This area of reporting is being refined and provides important indicative patterns of consumption, depending on the material.

  • EN2 Percentage of materials used that are recycled input materials.

    Integrated Report:

As Barloworld predominantly represents Original Equipment Manufacturers (OEMs) and principals, opportunities for using recycled materials are limited. Relatively significant items are paper and tyres. Volume of recycled input paper remains negligible at 0.5% (2014: 0.4%). Given the increased activity and expansion in Logistics' road transportation activities, recycled input tyres, increased to 18.3% (2014: 16.6%) of total tyres used and reported by weight.
